Jacobsville Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1869 during a time when ships frequented Keweenaw Bay often and the local quarry was literally supplying the building blocks of the Copper CountryNine light keepers kept the lamps lit for 50 years, now the new owners have begun restoring the historic site.

Sandstone Cliffs

The sandstone cliffs of this section of shoreline were once part of the Huron Mountain range located approximately 15 miles to the east, and opposite side of the bay.

Glaciers helped carve the landscape of the region, including the lake shore and these cliffs.
